One of St. Louis’ largest companies has hired a new lobbying firm to advocate on its behalf in Jefferson City.
Ahead of the Missouri General Assembly’s upcoming 2023 legislative session, Maryland Heights-based World Wide Technology (WWT) has hired Kansas City-based Catalyst as its lobbyist, state records show. WWT, the region’s second-largest private company by revenue, previously was represented by Jefferson City-based Flotron McIntosh. It cut ties with the firm last year, according to private news service Missouri Scout.
Flotron McIntosh, led by CEO Richard McIntosh, had been World Wide Technology's lobbyist for two decades, according to state filings. In addition to representing WWT, Flotron McIntosh also was previously a lobbyist for the technology firm's co-founder and chairman, David Steward, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
WWT provides technology products and services for large businesses and government entities globally. Led by CEO Jim Kavanaugh, WWT had revenue of $13.2 billion in 2021.
WWT’s new lobbyist, Catalyst, also represents other notable St. Louis-based firms, including industrial giant Emerson Electric (NYSE: EMR) and technology training nonprofit LaunchCode. State filings show its clients also include Major League Baseball, Uber and Tesla. Catalyst is led by founder and Managing Principal Danny Pfeifer.
Earlier this week, WWT said it has laid off some of its workers recently. The cuts come after years of growth for WWT, but also as tech firms around the country and locally have resorted to layoffs recently.
