KATHERINE STARR
Katherine graduated from Benedictine College in 2021. In Atchison, Kansas, she received her BA in Political Science while also serving as a three-year student-athlete on the cheerleading team. Through Benedictine, she spent a summer abroad, studying in Florence, Italy, and sightseeing in Greece. Katherine returns to Benedictine frequently, speaking to Political Science classes and serving on young alumni panels to introduce more students to the world of government affairs.
Katherine started at 1861 as an intern for the 2021 session. Through her internship she learned the political process and developed an interest for lobbying. Before her internship at 1861, she previously worked on a Congressional campaign where she gained valuable experience communicating with constituents and organizing events.
As the Lobbyist Coordinator, she provides support to all members of the team through research, committee monitoring, and scheduling. She continues to observe the process while simultaneously developing relationships with legislators and learning strategies.
