DAVID WILLIS
David Willis is a government affairs specialist with more than a decade of experience working in some of the highest leadership offices in Missouri government. David’s understanding of the legislative process and trusted counsel is so highly valued he worked for four Speakers of the Missouri House including service as Chief of Staff for Speaker Steven Tilley and Speaker Todd Richardson. This is an unprecedented tenure of service for a leadership staff member in the Missouri House of Representatives.
Serving as chief of staff to the House Budget Chairman, David has a keen understanding of the nuances and details of the Missouri budget having worked to craft budget policy in a wide variety of areas in state government.
On public policy, David has worked extensively on issues involving education, higher ed, agriculture, economic development, Medicaid, disruptive technology and a variety of regulatory issues impacting businesses of all kinds.
A political strategist, David has worked for and managed many political campaigns ranging from the State House to the United States Senate as well as ballot initiatives and issue campaigns. David has been honored several times by the Missouri Times, a leading publication focusing on Missouri politics and government, including a 30 under 30 designation and a Top 100 People in Politics.
David earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Missouri and his MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. David, his wife Stephanie and their dog Jackson live just outside of Jefferson City, although they both spend a lot of time traveling around Missouri. When he’s not in the State Capitol, he enjoys baseball, travel, woodworking and duck hunting.
