Certificate of Appreciation
Presented to an individual or organization in gratitude for duty performed in an exemplary and outstanding manner. Several may be awarded each year.

Director's Award
Presented to an individual or organization on the recommendation of a regional director, in recognition of exceptional contributions to the field of genealogy and family history. The nominee must have made an extra-mile effort to promote goodwill and improve service, and must be a member of the CSGA.

Distinguish Service Award
Presented to an individual or organization in recognition of outstanding service to CSGA or to a member society. The organization must be a member of CSGA, the individual must be a member of a CSGA member society. More than one such award may be given each year.

Founder's Award
Presented to the founding individuals who have established a genealogical society in the state of California.

Award of Merit
Presented to an individual or organization, not necessarily a member society, in recognition of meritorious service or distinguished work in genealogy and family history. Several may be awarded each year.

This award is for the person or group not usually recognized for their work in support of the genealogical community. Perhaps a committee within a historical society that took on the task of indexing the photographs in their collection to enable easy access. Or a person that prepared a detailed, indexed church history. Or an individual that advanced beyond the basic requirement of a project to create a work of benefit to many family historians.

President's Citation
Presented to an individual or organization whose contributions or service to CSGA or the genealogical community are singled out for recognition by the CSGA president.

To recommend someone (or some group) for this award, send your submission/suggestion to the current President of CSGA. The award is discretionary, with the Awards committee offering no recommendation. In fact, it is often awarded without the consent or knowledge of the Awards committee. This is not given each year, and is quite an honor to receive.

Publication Award
Nominations for the award may come from individual societies to honor society editors for work on California society publications.
