1940 Census – Society Stats

As of today California is over 55% indexed…..here are some of the indexing numbers from our societies…we can all be proud of our contributions!!!

CSGA:  27 Indexers – 22832 indexed , 13688 arbitrated (top individual 14894, 2nd 6792, 3rd 3281)

Conejo Valley Genealogical Society: 8 indexers and 1 arbitrator

Corona Genealogical Society: 29 indexers – 26116 indexed (top individual 8280, 2nd 4313, 3rd 2081)

Fresno County Genealogical Society: 27 indexers – 70,122 indexed, 4,439 arbitrated (top individual 17,083 indexed; 2nd individual 15,653 indexed & 4,439 arbitrated; 3rd individual 15,360 indexed.)

Genealogical Society of North Orange County, California: 3 indexers and 1 arbitrator. We have indexed 1075 and arbitrated 1280

Genealogy Society of Vallejo-Benicia has two indexers. We have indexed 7,237 (4,224 + 3,013)

Roots Cellar Sacramento Genealogy Society: 15 indexers – 32,045 indexed, 1000 arbitrated (top individual 8840 (plus some for Wisconsin), 2nd 7955, 3rd 5617 (plus many before joining society group))

San Luis Obispo County Genealogical Society: 7 active indexers; 20,200 records indexed (that’s 2800+ per capita); 1600 records arbitrated (top individual 14,680; 2nd 2,840; 3rd 1600)  [This concurrent with three major local cemetery record indexing projects. ]

San Mateo County Genealogical Society: 8 active indexers – 11032 indexed 9385 arbitrated (top individual 9302, 2nd 4154, 3rd 3772)

Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society: 40 active indexers – 76087 indexed Arbitrations 2621 (top individual 11971, 2nd is 6312 and 3rd is 6143)

Southern California Genealogical Society: 35 active indexers – 80,137 indexed, 37,581 arbitrated (top individual 13840, 2nd 7880, 3rd 7180)

Ventura County Genealogical Society:  Last on the list but tops in their contribution – 75 contributing indexers with 152,080 indexed and 8 arbitrators with 136,877 arbitrated
